UV Disinfection Systems

Ultraviolet light is a natural component of sunlight, falling just below the visible light region of the electromagnetic spectrum. UV is simply light energy and part of the natural sunlight. At the germicidal UV-C 253.7nm wavelength, UV light has a unique ability to cause photochemical changes and cripple in the component and genetic DNA of the micro-organisms (bacteria, viruses, cysts etc). These changes inhibit the processes necessary for life and so inactivate micro-organisms.

Trident® UV systems employ UV lamp technology within precisely engineered stainless steel disinfection chambers. The radiation geometry of the UV lamps within the irradiation chamber are designed and arranged depending on the flow rate, UV dose, origin of water and application. This ensures that the UV energy is distributed effectively as the water or air passes through the unit. As a result, any micro-organism will be subjected to lethal dose of UV energy. The main criterion is the effective irradiation dose, expressed in J/m2 or mJ/cm2, which is calculated on the basis of irradiation intensity and irradiation time.
